Book Days at the Early Years.

What an exciting week we had! It was a magical time for everyone! On Thursday morning the children came to school dressed up as their favourite book characters and took part in the whole school parade. Following this exciting event, students shared their costumes with their big friends from Grade 9!

The day was all about books! Children visited other classrooms in the Early years and discovered the story “Brown Bear, Brown Bear, what Do You See?” written and illustrated by Bill Martin, Jr. and Eric Carle. The little ones explored the story by being engaged in activities, which were created based on this story. It was also great to see students being caring towards books by becoming Book doctors. They helped to repair lots of books by fixing and restoring them.

What would Book Week be without mystery readers? They visited students in the Early Years on this day! Every story made the little ones curious and happy listeners who joined the book characters in their adventures! Thank you to all our mystery readers!

Friday noonish started with an excellent lunch for the teachers provided by the PTO for the World Teachers day. Thank you so much for the delicious food and all the effort made to provide it for us! We all felt appreciated by this lovely organised event!

Thank you all for taking an active part in making these days so magical!

Oak students were excited and busy getting ready for the Book Days. Children were happy to make their own bear masks and explore the sea world by creating a big poster. They were curious to discover different animals by watching and singing a song "Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?" written and illustrated by Bill Martin, Jr. and Eric Carle.

This week Maple group spent time getting ready for the Book Days. Each child made a Brown Bear mask and also participated in different art projects creating the Frogs’ pond for the Green Frog, the stable for the Blue Horse and pigsty for the Pink Pig. We took the time to mix the right pink colour for the Pink Pig and figure out the best way to make a Green Frog!
Maple group children are very thankful to our Mystery Readers: Simeon’s mommy. Laima’s mommy and Charlotte’s Daddy.
While playing with the blocks, the children continued to learn from each other while building fantastic constructions!

Linden had so much fun this week learning about animals and eyes through the book Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? In our class, we focused on the Purple Cat, Yellow Duck and Red Bird. We started the week exploring the human eye. We looked in the mirror and explored the parts of our eyes. We then looked at how our eyes are different from animal eyes. Ms Andurette showed us a picture of an eye and we had to guess whose eye it could be. We were magnificent at guessing the animals!
