22 April 2016

Reminder: We are looking forward to seeing you tomorrow, 23rd April 2016, for the Student Led Conferences!

On Monday we had visitors from grade 5. Three students shared the research they had done about refugees for their exhibition. They told us about the people they met and the facts they had found out and our little students were listening with great interest, as they made the connections to the story book we had read previously. Thank you very much for this great exchange, Sam, Isabelle and Katrina! They will also help us to make sure our bake sale money finds the right people.

We would also like to thank all parents who donated money or cakes, we appreciate your initiative.

Tuesday morning started off rainy, but nonetheless we got ready for our forest trip and our bravery was rewarded with sunshine! The children each received a little journal in which they could draw their observations from the forest. How many many mini beasts and other forest features you can find, if you look carefully!

After a picnic lunch we roasted marshmallows over the fire. Yum!

Our Inquiries into the world of mini beasts have continued throughout the week. Also, every classroom now hosts a couple of snails as part of our unit on mini beasts. Some courageous children even dared to touch their slimy pets!
