30 October 2015

We hope you all enjoyed the Fall Break and had a good rest! We certainly felt that the children had a good time and were now excited to come back to Preschool and meet all their friends and teachers again!

On the second day back, the older children of the Early Years went on another Waldkinder field trip to the forest. Enjoy the video and photos below  to get an impression of all the fun and great learning that took place:

We rounded up our Unit of Inquiry Sand, Water, Gloop and Dough this week. The children proved to be very knowledgeable and curious about how different substances change, feel and what they look like. The sensory tables, filled with rice or kinetic sand and other materials, were always busy and the children frequently commented on how paints or play dough will make new colours, if they mix them. Everybody loved exploring soap bubbles with their different shades of the rainbow and we offered some magic paint (1 table spoon pancake flour mix, 1 table spoon salt, 3 table spoons water and food colouring) that tuned fluffy when heated up for a few seconds in the microwave! When we put it on round paper cuttings it reminded the children of pizzas, which was a great way to get ready for pizza Friday!

Furthermore, we also focussed on pre-writing and fine motor skill activities such as drawing in sand this week, as some of our older students will start the Language Art programme next week!

The Linden children celebrated Georgs' birthday on Tuesday, he turned four! Happy Birthday, Georgs!

And last but not least we have a little request: We are looking for empty clear glass jars big enough to hold a tea candle (e.g. jam or baby food jars). If you have any at home and would be willing to donate them, could you please bring them to your child’s classroom teacher?
