16th October 2015

We would like to thank all parents for attending the Parent Teacher Conferences on Wednesday and Thursday. We appreciated the good conversations and your feedback and we hope it was a positive experience for you, too!

This Tuesday was a forest day again! Everybody enjoyed the sunny day in the woods, developing different skills and attitudes (please see our display board). Inspired by last week’s Book Days, the children initiated their own reproduction of the story “We are going on a bear hunt” in the forest. Before going home, the children were happy roasting marshmallows and making smores over the camp fire. Another truly wonderful day in the forest!

Sand, Water, Gloop and Dough

Explorations of different substances continued throughout the week. While the older students were in the forest, our younger learners explored mixing, flour, water and food colours and knowledgeably observed the changes. The Birch room offered some great opportunities for everyone to experiment with all kinds of big and small soap bubbles as well as having hands-on tactile experience at the sensory table full of dry rice. In the Oak and Maple classrooms the children could explore water and how it mixes with other substances, play dough and kinetic sand. By now, they have really started to pay attention to the change happening, compare different materials and their properties. We are very proud of our curious, little inquirers!
