I Am A Preschooler!

This week the Preschoolers reflected upon different ways in which we use our bodies.  This theme was also the focus in a larger Preschool assembly on Monday morning.  Discussion, regarding our body parts and movements, and mimicking various movements from several songs on the Smart Board were enjoyed by all!  Some of these fun links included:

We would like to kindly remind you to dress your child appropriately as it gets colder and colder outside (mittens, hats, scarves, water resistant outside pants, as well as warm pants please!).

Toddlers
This week the Toddlers explored different techniques of painting such as painting with cars!  They also explored what happens if one mixes blue and yellow paint… GREEN!  The Toddlers continued to work hard, and very successfully, towards potty training.  And finally, talked about the weather changes outside and created a project where the children had to dress up a boy for outside time so that he doesn’t feel cold.

Preschool1
The Preschool 1 children were committed on completing unit related activities and in creating and finalizing their own I Am A Preschooler book! The children have demonstrated their confidence as they have started to present this material in a sharing activity during some of our circle times.  During the Library lesson Ms Legzdiņa shared My Friends, by Taro Gomi, a book about friends and friends sharing with us the many ways we can use our body! Finally, we would like to thank Mr Neil for helping us out the past two Monday’s!

Preschool 2
We are finishing up the current Unit of Inquiry by talking about what we can do with our bodies and body parts. We used picture cards showing various activities to play a game about what body parts we use for particular activities. It was fun! Thank you Maxim for bringing the cards to school!  We used our big paper silhouettes in the hallway to share our knowledge about our bodies with a partner and their paper ‘’buddy”. Again, lots of fun and excitement during this activity! During Alphie time we have started a new activity – reading; together as a group the children try to read short 2 to 3 sound words on the Smart Board. They were really excited when they realized they had just read a REAL word! We finished the week by celebrating Wolf`s Birthday; Happy Birthday Wolf!

The Preschool teachers would like to extend their gratitude for the lovely Teacher Appreciation Morning Tea and WONDERFUL day!!  Thank you!
